This is The Moon and stars and cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds over central Ohio. The clouds were moving extremely fast this night as they tend to do when the weather is changing in the summer. It is agreed upon that The Moon's orbit is an ellipse, or, not a perfect circle. And that its distance from Earth varies from about 221,463 miles [356,334 kilometers] at what is called perigee, when it is closest to us, to 251,968 miles [405,503 kilometers] at what is called apogee, when it is furthest away. Making The Moon about 238,857 miles [384,392 kilometers] away from Earth on average. Its pull on The Earth is so strong that it is responsible for high and low tides, although I am still trying to get my mind around exactly how. It has also been linked to irrational behavior and madness, hence the words lunatic and lunacy. It revolves around Earth but does not rotate on an axis like we do. It is our only satellite.
