These are altostratus clouds, meaning that they are mid level clouds that are in a uniform layer. If these stratus clouds were high in the atmosphere they would be called cirrostratus and they would be made of ice. If they were low to the earth they would be called nimbostratus and would appear as fog. This is the moon behind them. Rolling on. As it does. Forever.
