US.XI.
North Carolina has seven routes in its ferry system. I met this man by the coffee shelf inside the ferry running between Ocracoke Island and Swan Quarter. He was one of the nicest people that I have ever met. All gravel voiced and long drawl, he epitomized the soft ease of Dixie [the American South]. The longest voyage of any of the car carrying vessels [two hours and some change], pedestrians, bicyclists, motorcyclists and pets are also welcome. I had been scoping this Geo Tracker for a while and I kind of assumed it belonged to these two, the man and his old lady as he called her, a term of endearment for domestic partners [young and old] in this country. I was right. We talked cars and houses and dogs. They had a chocolate [brown] and white [tan] Labradors, which are said to be the most popular registered breed in the United Kingdom, Canada, and the Untied States in the last twenty years.
